Born and bred in Kirkcaldy and university educated in Aberdeen after completing a traineeship in Dunfermline and working for some time in Leven, Ann joined Innes Johnston at Partner level in 2006. Ann is the firm’s Senior Partner and is based in our brand new Kirkcaldy office.
Ann Oliver - Partner
Ann now specialises in Family Law particularly divorce, residence and child contact disputes as well as co-habitation and adoption issues. She also advises clients on debt recovery, sequestration and property disputes.
Ann is regularly appointed by the Sheriff Court as a Child Welfare Reporter assisting in the resolution of disputes between parents relating to residence and contact and is also frequently appointed as a Curator in adoption cases.
Ann has extensive experience representing clients in various Sheriff Courts and is a member of the Family Law Association.
Mark Alder is the Court Partner working from the Leven office. He joined the firm in May 2014 having previously worked for a number of years as a Court Solicitor with a firm in Perth. Mark is an experienced Court Solicitor and has worked in a number of different jurisdictions.

He studied at Dundee University and after obtaining his law degree and diploma in legal practice, undertook a traineeship with a firm in Dumfries before becoming a qualified solicitor and undertaking a wide variety of Court work. Mark largely undertakes family law work to include Divorce, financial advice on separation, disputes relating to contact and residence of children and adoptions but also has significant experience in other areas of Court work to include debt recovery, commercial and property disputes. Mark is a member of the Family Law Association.
Jemma joined Innes Johnston in 2010 after completing her traineeship in Edinburgh. Jemma was quickly promoted to Partner in our Glenrothes Office which she manages along with her own caseload. Jemma has experience in dealing with a wide range of private client and court matters.
Jemma Forbes - Partner
Jemma deals with all matters relating to family law including separation, divorce, residence/contact disputes, co-habitation matters, pre-nuptial agreements, civil partnerships, adoptions and protective remedies such as interdicts and exclusion orders. Jemma is keen to promote resolution in family law matters whenever possible However, she also appreciates that sometimes court is the only option for resolving disputes. Jemma regularly appears at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court and Courts in neighbouring jurisdictions Jemma also collaborates with the firm’s letting department providing advice to landlords in relation to tenancy agreements and compliance with ever-changing regulations. Jemma and her team deal with a large volume of Adults with Incapacity applications including Intervention orders and Guardianships, Jemma has also acted as Financial Guardian in a number of cases. Jemma is a curator for the Mental Health Tribunal in Scotland. Jemma regularly advises on Wills and Powers of Attorney, Asset Preservation and also Estate and Tax Planning.
Jemma is one of the few Solicitors in Fife to give advice in relation to Immigration matters. Having trained at an Edinburgh firm specialising in Immigration, she advises families in relation to immigration matters including spouse applications for entry to the UK, extension of leave applications, settlement applications, citizens’ applications and applications for family members of European Nationals.
Jacqueline has over twenty years’ experience as a Solicitor. She studied at the University of Dundee and trained and worked in Edinburgh before coming to work in Fife. Jacqueline became a Partner of the firm in 2016 and is currently based in our Leven office. .
Jacqueline Mitchell - Partner
Jacqueline has worked with a number of local firms and was previously employed by Innes Johnston, working in both our Leven and Kirkcaldy offices. She returned to the firm in 2015, becoming a partner in 2016.
Jacqueline is approachable and has a loyal set of clients, many of whom have followed her from her previous firms to Innes Johnston. Jacqueline prides herself on her organisational skills which assist her in offering an excellent service to clients.
Stewart joined Innes Johnston in 2018 as a Senior Associate and was quickly promoted to Partner, based in our Kirkcaldy Office. With over a decade of experience in residential and commercial conveyancing Stewart is equipped to deal with all aspects of buying or selling your home or business.
Stewart is delighted to advise individuals and companies who require legal services to guide them through the often daunting process of buying or selling property in Scotland. Whether you are a first time buyer, purchasing a buy to let property or commercial premises, Stewart is able to offer legal and practical advice, delivering successful outcomes for his clients.
Stewart also provides representation in Liquor licensing matters and has acted or appeared for clients in Licensing Boards from Shetland to the Borders. Stewart presently sits on the Fife Valuation Appeals Committee which deals with rating, valuation and council tax appeals.
Claire joined Innes Johnston as a Paralegal in 2006 and whilst working with the firm she went on to complete her law degree. Claire then completed her traineeship with the firm in 2016 and is now a Partner, based in our Leven Office. Claire excelled in her traineeship on account of her previous experience in the legal sector.
Claire Forbes - Partner
Claire primarily deals with executry administration, assisting families and executors in winding up an estate after death. She has experience in dealing with the estate administration of a range of cases from small estates to more complex matters involving Inheritance Tax issues.
Claire also provides advice to individuals and families regarding Wills and Powers of Attorney, and Inheritance Tax planning matters.
Claire also has 10 years of experience in residential conveyancing and so she is able to provide continuity and an all-round service to her clients. She is approachable and friendly which has allowed her to build long-term relationships with clients.
Gillian joined Innes Johnston in April 2017 and is based in our Kirkcaldy office. Gillian has over 20 years’ experience with large city firms dealing primarily with conveyancing transactions including residential, commercial and rural property but was keen to return to Fife where she lives and has a number of well-established local connections. .
Gillian MacNulty - Associate
Gillian has a mixed portfolio of transactions from wills and powers and attorneys to inheritance tax planning, residential and commercial conveyancing and leasing.
Gillian also works for Edinburgh University and is also a Course Organiser for Environmental Law and up until recently Wildlife Crime as part of the Masters in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health at Edinburgh University.
Megan joined the firm in 2015 as a student while she completed her Scots and English Law Dual Qualifying Degree and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Dundee and then started her Traineeship with us in September 2017 before qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2019. . .
Megan Cullen - Solicitor
During her traineeship Megan gained experience advising clients on the acquisition and refinancing of commercial and residential properties and private client matters including wills and powers of attorney.
Megan is now based in our Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes Offices in our civil litigation department and advises on a range of matters including family law, adults with incapacity matters, housing law and evictions and debt recovery.
Megan is approachable and enthusiastic in developing her expertise and knowledge. She is eager to assist and go the extra mile in providing clients with an excellent service.
Sharron joined Innes Johnston in 1991, originally working in our Leven office and is now based in the firm’s Glenrothes office. Having undertaken Specialist Paralegal qualifications in Family Law in 2005 and Residential Conveyancing in 2007, Sharron went on to complete her law degree part-time and is currently studying towards her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
Sharron Sutherland - Paralegal
Sharron is an Accredited Paralegal and now deals primarily with Executry matters, guiding clients through the legal issues that arise when someone dies. She is very conscious that dealing with clients following the death of their loved one needs to be handled in a respectful and compassionate manner.
Sharron is able to provide an all-round service to clients on account of her background within residential conveyancing when the time comes to deal with heritable property belonging to the estate.
Sharron is also undertaking a law degree and aims to graduate in 2019.
Audrey joined Innes Johnston in 2006 and is an Accredited Conveyancing Paralegal in our Leven office. Audrey has 35 years’ experience in the legal sector and worked in Edinburgh before moving to Fife in 2004. . .

Yvonne joined Innes Johnston following the merger with McKinnon & Co., Solicitors, Glenrothes in November, 2016. Yvonne is a Paralegal based in our Kirkcaldy office and has over 25 years’ experience dealing with residential conveyancing. .
Yvonne has a wealth of experience in helping clients through the process of buying and selling their home and clients know they are in safe hands. Yvonne handles her own caseload and as well as purchases and sales she carries out re-mortgages, Discharges of Standard Securities and transfers of title transactions.
Yvonne is organised and professional but approachable, she has a number of longstanding clients who are loyal to her on account of this.
Susan joined Innes Johnston in 2004. Susan initially worked in our Kirkcaldy office as a Legal Secretary. Following completion of a Specialist Paralegal qualification in Residential Conveyancing in 2007 Susan re-located to our Glenrothes office and is now an Accredited Paralegal.
